Since its inception in 1995, Dr. Maron has been the guiding star for this not-for-profit agency from its start-up phase through the years of growth and expansion. Under his leadership, determination and commitment, we have made a difference in the lives of countless pre-school students with special needs.
Dr. Maron’s background as a life-long learner, with a doctorate in clinical psychology supplemented by a master’s degree in education and coursework in public administration fits in perfectly with his vision. He employs the most innovative and progressive intervention modalities to support our students.
Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that all students can learn and achieve academic success when their individual needs, strengths, and talents are recognized and supported. We believe that interventions should be student-centered, grounded in best practices, and respectful of cultural and religious diversity. Parents and caregivers are primary agents of learning and, as such, are essential members of each child’s educational and therapeutic team. Children learn best in their least restrictive environment through an individualized, modified curriculum that incorporates multiple instructional modalities, including technology. Our ultimate goal is for all students to become independent and active participants in their classrooms alongside their typically developing peers.

Our mission is to provide high-quality, individualized early childhood education and supportive services to preschool children with disabilities and their families. Through inclusive, developmentally appropriate programming, we help children build the foundational skills that support learning, positive relationships, independence, and long-term growth.
Starting Point Services for Children is an agency comprised of collaborative, resourceful, student oriented and caring professionals serving preschoolers with disabilities as identified by the Committee on Preschool Special Education of the New York City Department of Education.
